I live in Wexford and am married with 3 grown-ups
Regulate genetically modiifed organisms (GMOs) in Ireland, ie. their use in laboratories and for field/clinical trials
Give permit/licences to GMO users. We have licensed over 600 users to date.
My Typical Day
Talking to stakeholders. Writting reports/consents
Heading up a small team of people that regulate the safe use of modern biotechnology in Ireland.
We grant consents and carry out site inspections to ensure the safe use of the technology for the environment and human health
What I'd do with the money
give it to promote science in Wexford-the importance of science in society
I was thinking that it would be a good idea to promote science and the importance of science in Ireland by organising a half day conference in Wexford and invite all post primary schools to include topical issues including:
Climate change science
How to produce food for a growing global population
The importance of biopharma for producing medicines for mankind
