      I think I’ve been a scientist for as long as I can remember. Even as a small child, I wanted to know how things worked. My father is a farmer and as is the case for most farmers, a bit of an engineer too – I think he passed on that inquisitive nature to me, he used to dismantle tractor engines, fix them and rebuild them and I loved watching that.

      I entered the Young Scientists’ competition with my friend Marie when I was in third year – that was my first taste of scientific research and I was hooked. It’s a great springboard for young scientists and a great way to way to meet people from all over the country.

      Not particularly, but I was always curious about the world and that’s all you need.

      Yes, I always liked science very much! I always read books about how stuff works and always wanted to know what makes stuff work!
