• Question: Do you think you could make a vaccine for HIVs

      Vaccines have already been made against HIV but they don’t work in 100% of cases.
      Last week, researchers injected the first of what they hope will be 5400 participants in the $130 million study in South Africa, which should show whether a combination of vaccines will protect participants from HIV infection. Scientists tried this vaccine combination in Thailand 7 years ago but found that it reduced the risk of HIV infection by only 31%.

      What do you think of this? Maybe even preventing HIV in this small percentage of people would help South Africa, which has more than 6 million HIV-infected people ?

    Scientist have been trying to produce vaccines as Sinead said above and it will probably take some time. Scientist have made great strives in understanding this virus since 1981. This has been done using the tools of modern biotechnology which is of paramount importance.
