      Hi Ciara,
      It is the ultimate aim of cancer treatment to remove or destroy all of the malignant (cancer) cells in the body but unfortunately, it does not always work to the extent that we would wish.

      Malignant cells usually spread from the tumour to other organs by hitching a ride with in the blood or lymph systems.

      Some day in the future, the hope is that we will be able to inject nano particles (very small particles) into the blood or lymph system which will seek and destroy any travelling tumour cells and therefore prevent the spread of cancer.
