Emma Roycroft answered on 15 Nov 2016:

Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by the organism mycobacterium tuberculosis. It affects the lungs mainly (like a pneumonia), but can affect any organ. It is up there with HIV as the biggest killer in the world due to an infection. We don’t have too much in Ireland but it is still present. We don’t really do anything with it as such, we just try to prevent it from infecting too many people.
