As I work in a microbiology laboratory, I love that everyday that I sit down at my bench it is going to be different. We recieve hundreds of samples every day from different patients all with different infections, conditions etc. our challenge is to determine what bacteria is causing the infection, checking which antibiotics should be used to treat the infection and get that person better. We often have very sick people in hospital and it is great to hear that they recover and head home well. It is rewarding to know that we are a integral part in the doctors diagnosis of what is wrong with the patient. We all work together to get that patient better.

That its ultimate goal is to help people! Although sometimes sadly the need for profit of the pharmaceutical industry hinders this!
