I always wanted to be a scientist. It is a fascinating area to be working in, in particular, microbiology.

I think I’ve been a scientist for as long as I can remember. Even as a small child, I wanted to know how things worked. My father is a farmer and as is the case for most farmers, a bit of an engineer too – I think he passed on that inquisitive nature to me, he used to dismantle tractor engines, fix them and rebuild them and I loved watching that.

I guess cancer research is a bit like that too, we take the cancer cell apart to find out what went wrong in the hope of finding the fix? Can you see what I mean?

Because I’m curious about the world and science can explain so many things about it.

I always wanted to know how things work, where they came from and how they function. This basically is what science is, so there you go :-)!
