      That’s a great question.
      I did some work two years ago in DkIT with an Irish company called Sigmoid Pharma Ltd to test a drug that could be used to prevent and treat colon cancer. The drug is called Celecoxib.

      We found that making a capsule of it in a special way (using new types of ingredients) meant that it became really good at stopping the cancer traffic inside colon cancer cells and it did this good police-work without serious side effects. We told the story of our research in a magazine for scientists called the Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology.

      The next step is to test this new product in a patient trial (which is called a clinical trial). Some day, after all the tests have been done in patients to make sure that it works and is safe, that drug could put an end to dreaded colon cancer in people who are at risk of developing it.
