Yes I’ve heard of group-specific component macrophage activating factor (GcMAF). This factor has been shown to activate the immune system, specifically cells called macrophages.

I was aware of a number of case reports where it has been used to treat lung cancer, multiple sclerosis, thyroid cancer and colon cancer.

That is really a remarkable result for your family friend. Are they on a trial for GcMAF? This would be a great Scifest project. Do your school come to the DkIT SciFest?
