Cancer research is a bit like doing a huge jigsaw. Scientists put the pieces together bit by bit and eventually a picture emerges that allows us to see what went wrong in the cancer cell. As the jigsaw comes together, new ways of treating cancer become clear. It is very slow but rewarding work.

When we find a new way to cure cancer, it has to be tested for safety and to see that it works well, these tests can take several years.
