      Fuel that is derived from organic matter that comes from living things (planst, alga, animals) that have long since died and fossilised. Like oil, gas, coal, brown coal, turf, etc.

      A recently felled tree that was dried and is then burned for heat would be an example of a non-fossil fuel.
